4 Principles That Help Us See Ourselves With Clarity

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Choice, honesty, responsibility, and humility are values I believe are important and are reflected in the tools, resources, and strategies I utilize with clients. I also live them—although not perfectly—I try to do so, wholeheartedly. I believe in them and that when embraced and employed, we see with added clarity and are able to stretch the doors wide open to greater connection within ourselves and with those we love, and most importantly our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

CHOICE

We have the power to choose. Can you believe we have the power to choose?!! We can choose what to think and perceive from our experiences. Thus, we choose how we feel, how we respond and act, and ultimately the outcome of those experiences. We make choices regarding our relationships, our employment and education, our friendships and our faith. We choose our level of commitment to our goals and desires, our interests, our purposes, pursuits, and promises. The more we recognize the gift of choice, the greater our ability to create the life we want and be who we desire to become. We are not stuck. We can choose.

HONESTY

Living with honesty is being free from hypocrisy, duplicity, and deceit with ourselves and with others. It is living in truth. As we are honest with ourselves about our thoughts, actions, motives, and feelings we see ourselves with more clarity—seeing who we currently are and who we desire to become. We are not stuck. We can choose honesty.

RESPONSIBILITY

We live responsibly when we assume accountability for our choices. We choose to follow through with our commitments. Our responsibility includes what we think, how we feel, what we do, and what we say. When we fall short, we are honest about it, remembering to be kind to ourselves, yet moving forward to make any restitution necessary. Living responsibly is a steppingstone of trust—trusting ourselves as well as gaining the trust of others. Living responsibly helps us see who we currently are and who we desire to become. We are not stuck. We can choose responsibility.

HUMILITY

Humility is a willingness to align ourselves with God. It is the process of having an “eye single" to His "glory” (Doctrine and Covenants 4:5). In the process of growth and development it is a willingness to be open to and consider new ideas and feedback. It is being willing to change our behavior, even our thoughts, and biases when necessary. It is the act of being vulnerable and open with ourselves and with others. As we are humble, we can see ourselves with more clarity—seeing who we currently are and who we desire to become. We are not stuck. We can choose humility.

If you are interested in deeper understanding of how these values will help you in your relationships, in your goals and desires, and in seeing things clearly, I’d love to work with you!
