Let's Talk about Hypocrisy

It seems to be very common today to look for and call out publicly the hypocrisy we perceive in others. Everywhere we look there is finger pointing and blame. The result of dwelling upon the stories we tell ourselves about others often leaves us feeling frustrated, angry, and anxious.
I believe a healthier approach involves just the opposite—looking inward and identifying the hypocrisy that exists in us. Then we can focus on living congruent to our core values and beliefs. Each one of us has behaviors that can be realigned and refined. When this approach becomes a common practice the division and derision we experience, both internally and externally, will decrease.
One of the best ways I have found to do this is through prayer and reflection. As I ask God to help me see my weaknesses clearly and show me how I can make them strengths, He gently teaches and guides me.
Admittedly, at times it is painful as I begin to see with clarity things in myself that I do not like. And yet, it is a humbling, empowering, and significant process that leads to growth and ultimately, a place of gratitude and peace.
I find for myself and for many clients I have worked with, that it is a process which increases love and appreciation for ourselves, others, and God.
Here’s to creating stronger, happier, and more satisfying relationships!
